about

This is the first of a series of live recordings from the archive of Jeff Manganaro that we'll be releasing. Volume I documents what I believe is the final performance of ppdb, Pittsburgh's Premier Dance Band, at the unlikely venue Rosebud on a Sunday night in June, 2003. This was a weird night. We were slated to open for Damo Suzuki, but he was either deported or denied entry into the US because he didn't have his working papers-- something along those lines. It was during the Three Rivers Arts Festival, and Sonic Youth was playing for free outside down the street earlier, and it was going to be a weird & wonderful night in Pittsburgh, with Sonic Youth, ppdb and Damo Suzuki, and then Damo couldn't make it and somehow that just made everything weirder.
